Chapter 8: Quarantine
Being in quarantine has affected the way we do a lot of things such as school, and how we get food from restaurants. We tend to focus so much on things and places, we forget about ourselves and how to deal with this new world. Personally being in quarantine has made me feel very sad and trapped. I feel sad due to not being able to see my friends and my boyfriend, even though I see them weekly through zoom. Yet I feel that it is not the same. I also miss going to the skill center and being able to participate in plays like I used to. However I try my best to distract my mind or find ways to comfort my sadness. Some things I like to do is pray since I am a religious person, and I also like to be informed of the current news of the virus. I don’t personally watch news but I do ask people who watch the news to stay informed. Another thing I do to feel a little less trapped is have dinner with my friends through Instagram video. It feels like they’re with me at my house or as if we went out to a restaurant. Although I want this quarantine to end, my main focus is to stay safe and healthy. The best advice I can give someone is to find things to stay safe from the virus, stay busy to not get bored, and find things to cheer you up mentally.
