When I was four years old it was time to enter public school. I was at Lassalette school for kindergarten and first grade. I really liked my teachers. They were very patient and nice to me. I had a rough time separating from my mom. I was just getting adjusted in kindergarten when I was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 5. I was hospitalized for three days. I remember after that, I missed a lot of school. The doctor put me on Tegretal medication, but that did not help. It made me have more seizures. At children’s hospital, the neurologist there changed it to Trileptal medication. That was the best. My seizures were controlled. I have partial seizures, and I could always know when I am going to get one. I feel nauseous, my eyes start to twitch and I feel tingling in the left side of my face. I get so sleepy and I also get a headache after my seizure. My seizures usually last between two to three minutes. Now that I know more about my seizures, they do not have control over me.
